Idaho Dustless Sandblasting and Restoration Co proudly serves customers in Sandpoint, Idaho and all surrounding areas. When it comes to log homes, cabins, decks, barns and enclosures, customers our team to deliver honest and ethical service.
Our safe and effective sandblasting process involves using an abrasive material to remove old paint, stains, dirt, and other contaminants from the wood’s surface. This process helps restore the original beauty of the logs while preparing them for new finishes like stain, sealant, or paint.
Our Process: How We Sandblast for Customers in Sandpoint
Choosing the Right Abrasive Media: Unlike traditional sandblasting, which typically uses sand, the abrasive materials used on log cabins are carefully chosen to ensure that the wood isn’t damaged. Common abrasives for log homes include crushed glass, garnet, and walnut shells. These materials are softer than sand and allow for a gentler abrasive process that preserves the integrity of the wood.
Our Sandblasting Equipment: Our sandblasting system typically consists of a compressor that forces the abrasive media through hoses to a nozzle. The operator holds the nozzle, directing the stream of media at the log surfaces to strip away the unwanted layers of paint, stain, dirt, and old finish.
Controlled Pressure: The sandblasting equipment can be adjusted to ensure the right amount of pressure is applied, which is crucial when working with wood. The process is carefully controlled to avoid damaging the log’s surface. By choosing the right media and adjusting the pressure, sandblasting can clean even the most delicate wood surfaces effectively.
